The West Yorkshire Healthier Together website is a tool that gives consistent, accurate and trustworthy healthcare advice to parents, carers, young people, and professionals. The information on the site has been reviewed by local paediatricians, GPs, Community Pharmacists, 0 to 19 years’ service and professionals across the region to ensure it aligns with current practices and procedures. You can find the website by visiting: www.wyhealthiertogether.nhs.uk
The Healthier Together Programme originated in Wessex in 2015 where parents, young people and professionals worked in collaboration to develop the content. The site has been so successful that it is now being rolled out nationally and local websites have already launched in South Yorkshire, the Northeast and North Cumbria.
The added value for the West Yorkshire Healthier Together website is that links and information can be provided about local services and resources, making it bespoke for West Yorkshire.
Pages are continually being developed and there are plans to develop a section for young people. To support the content development, we will work closely with the West Yorkshire Youth Collective.
The site also provides guidance and information for health professionals working across hospital and primary care settings on managing common paediatric problems.
How can you get involved?
We need as many organisations as possible that work alongside families across West Yorkshire to help promote and spread the word about the website that is a fantastic online resource for adults, carers, and young people. Please do also share the digital materials with your networks. Printed materials will be available soon.
We are looking to develop pages for young people over the coming months and will provide further updates and links to these pages.
