Early years Free Entitlement Funding
Entitlement (EYFE) for 2, 3 and 4 year olds across all sectors within the Wakefield District.
The list of funded providers can be accessed through the Family Services Directory Wakefield Council – Childcare Search – Enquiry.
To be included on the EYFE List the Council:
- Requires that the applicant is based in the Wakefield District.
- Requires the provider to initially complete a Funding Application Form, once approved a provider will be required to sign the Funding Agreement.
- Expects that any applicant works to continually improve the quality of their provision.
- Expects the Childminder Agency to be judged ‘Effective’ by Ofsted
- Requires that any applicant complies with the terms and conditions of the Funding
- Agreement and is able to meet the terms and conditions set out in this guidance document

Childcare Sufficiency Report
Wakefield Council has a statutory duty to ensure there are enough childcare places available across the Wakefield district. The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment is an annual survey of the local childcare market which ensures there are enough childcare places in the Wakefield district.
The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment reports on the childcare vacancies at present and also future forecasted childcare vacancies. The information provided in the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment helps identify gaps in the local childcare market and helps to plan future childcare needs.
