Who’s in Charge? Programme for parents

Who’s in Charge? Programme for parents.

This is a course designed for parents and carers with children aged 8 upwards, who are struggling with their children’s behaviour.

The 8 videos are a shortened version of the course to inspire you and give you an insight into what it could look like if you decided to attend one of our face-to-face groups held in the Family Hubs.  We have included some of the exercises and information from the course throughout the videos.

If you would like to book onto one of our face-to-face Who’s in Charge? Groups, please contact your local Family Hub.

Session 1 - Genograms, also known as Family Trees

Session 2 - Entitlement vs Responsibility

Session 3 - The difference between Power and Control

Session 4 - Consequences

Session 5 - Parenting Styles

Session 6 - Anger (in both parents and children)

Session 7 - Assertiveness

Session 8 - Self-care

The main aim of ‘Who’s in Charge?’ is to empower parents. Helps to reduce stress and guilt and offers ways to reduce abusive and violent behaviour.

  • Reduce feelings of isolation.
  • Create a belief in the possibility of change.
  • Clarify boundaries of what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.
  • Consequences for unacceptable behaviour.
  • Offers emotional support.
