The NHS expects that there will be an increase in the number of respiratory infections in babies and toddlers over the coming winter months. This is due to lower levels of immunity within communities, as a result of recent lockdowns. Local charities St George’s Lupset and Home-Start Wakefield have secured funding from the Department of Health & Social Care and Public Health England to support families this winter and are working together to support parent’s to access support and information about respiratory illness to help them keep their children Happy and Healthy. The team will empower parents and carers to make potentially life-saving decisions for their young ones with confidence.
Happy & Healthy are currently reaching out to communities through activities at local venues such as Weigh & Play sessions at West Wakefield Methodist Church, 9.30-10.30am on Wednesdays.
The team would like to know how aware communities are around respiratory infections in babies and toddlers, could you please share this short Questionnaire among your organisations.
