All 9 of our Family Hubs have recently had their outdoor areas renovated and now have a fantastic outdoor sensory area.
You are encouraged to visit your Local Family Hub and make use of these excellent facilities via the many groups and sessions on offer at the Family Hubs. Though the outdoor areas are predominantly aimed at the 0-5 age range, there are also activities and spaces for older children and adults to use.
Do look out for the fantastic murals which enhance the spaces at The Castle, Butterflies, Sunbeam and Kendal Drive Family Hubs, not only creating an exciting focal point but adding to the atmosphere created by the natural resources used in these areas.
Children and families can use these spaces for den building, mini beast hunts, water play, storytelling, making music, forest school, potion-making, art activities and some include an obstacle course, outdoor kitchen and construction area.
The sensory gardens aim to have a positive impact on children’s development by encouraging explorative, discovery and imaginative skills, promoting communication and language skills and allowing children to engage with the environment.
