Recognising and supporting pupils with special educational needs

Couse Content:

  • Understand the relevant legislation relating to Special Educational Needs.
  • Gain knowledge of a graduated response to special educational needs, including the APDR model.
  • Consider the broad areas of need and associated array of strategies to help children to develop.
  • Focus on common themes within the Wakefield authority, including Trauma, EBSA, ASD and ADHD.
  • The roles of key teams supporting schools to promote SEN and inclusion.
  • Key strategies and approaches to navigating through any potential barriers to learning and development, acknowledging key principles and practices that can empower children and families.
  • Opportunity for consultation to consider the relevance and practicality of strategies for any current cases.

You can book onto this training via the ‘Me’ system by searching the keywords of the course title in the learning section. If you do not have access to the ‘Me’ system please email learningacademy@wakefield.gov.uk directly to book.
