
Protective Carer Assessments

Court Description:
This training course focusses on assessing the protective capacity of the non-offending parent where there are sexual risk concerns. The training is aimed to support in undertaking protective carer assessments and is mandatory for all social workers, advanced practitioners and team managers.
The training will cover the following areas:
- The impact of assessing non-offending carers
- Understanding the needs of non-offending carers
- The impact of sexual abuse within families
- When to undertake a protective carer assessment
- Understanding and working with disbelief and denial
- Planning and undertaking a protective carer assessment
- Services and resources to support in this area of work
