Connective Parenting Training (NVR)
February 9 @ 9:30 am - February 10 @ 4:30 pm

This training is aimed for: Early Help, Fostering, Residential, FACT and Emotional Wellbeing Team staff.
Course Information:
What is Connective Parenting (NVR)?
It’s a philosophy that was used by Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King amongst others within socio-political struggles. Developed by Professor Haim Omer to be used in family settings.
- The approach is based on raising the presence of the parent/carer, rather than using consequences or trying to instill insight into the young person.
- It’s a way of parenting that is child focused but not child centred. It focuses on changing the way the parent/carer interacts with their child rather than changing the child.
- Sarah Fisher developed this into Connective Parenting and trained us in 2021.
- Wakefield will be using the name Connective Parenting as it’s not just for families experiencing violence, it includes all families
Training Aims:
To understand:
- The principles of Connective Parenting (NVR)
- How it can help parents and carers to create connected relationships with their children
- To give everyone the information, skills and tools of Connective Parenting to help embed it within the families, children and young people you are working with
